Labour market parties exert strong influence on EU decision-making
In 2003, the European Commission recognised CEMR's Employers' Platform (CEMR-EP) as an employer organisation representing local government sector.
In 2004, the European Commission launched sector-specific social dialogue on local government with CEMR's Employers' Platform and the European Federation of Public Services Unions (EPSU) representing municipal employees. In connection with the dialogue, theme years with some aspect of working life as a special theme are organised, development projects launched and framework agreements negotiated.
The Employers' Platform also looks after the interests of municipal employers by cooperating directly with the Commission. The Platform develops human resource management by promoting the dissemination of best practices and the like.
